Inspired by the early 20th century
These impressive townhouses in the sought-after Cobden Street, Bright, take their design inspiration from the mid-1900s tobacco kilns once common to the region. The use of galvanised cladding and a steep roof pitch captures the character of these historic structures, while the offset layout provides privacy between dwellings. The result is a contemporary interpretation of a classic form that sits comfortably within its local context.
Inside, the homes feature blackbutt flooring throughout and a striking 150-year-old recycled messmate staircase leading to the upper level. A modern bathroom with a vaulted ceiling adds a sense of height and light, while VJ-lined walls and a generous void in the living area create a spacious, airy feel. The well-proportioned kitchen and dining area complete these stylish interiors.
Delivered during the challenging conditions of 2021–2022, this project stands as a testament to craftsmanship, creativity, and perseverance.
